Barnyard Readers Preschool Programs

EFFECTIVE 3/18/2020: Our April and May Barnyard Readers programming is cancelled while we practice social distancing during the COVID-19 outbreak. We will continue to follow the recommendations and guidelines provided by government and healthcare officials and make program updates accordingly. We are currently planning to hold Barnyard Readers beginning in June. Registration is now open.


Do you know a 3, 4, or 5 year old that loves stories about farm animals and living on a farm? If so, these 90-minute reading-based, activity-filled programs are perfect for them!

Together with your 3, 4, or 5 year old, listen to the tale of Alice in Wonderland, first published in 1865, in the historic setting of the Flynn Mansion. Then tour the house and participate in hands-on crafts and activities relating to the story.

Summer Barnyard Readers (Available May-October)

Together with your 3, 4, or 5 year old, listen to a story or two about a farm animal and participate in a special activity in the Visitor Center. Then, take a ride on our tractor-drawn cart out to the farm to see the animal of the day, and take a look around the barnyard!

Together with your 3, 4, or 5-year old, gather to hear a book or two about harvest routines and the holiday traditions of living on a farm. Then take a ride out to the 1900 Farm to participate in hands-on activities related to the day’s theme.
