Learning Excursion trips connect youth of all ages to Midwestern rural life experiences. Offered in spring, summer, and fall during our regular season, these curriculum-connected tours are based on both national and state standards in social studies, and other curriculum areas. Reservations must be made at least three weeks in advance, and subject to availability.
Note: You must have a minimum of 12 people in your group to qualify for a group tour discount.
Exploration programs are “hands-on, hands-in” programs designed to give students a unique learning experience about the history of farming and rural life in Iowa. All programs are 2-3 hours in length and require 3 adults, admitted free of charge. Reservations must be made at least three weeks in advance, and are subject to availability.
Let Living History Farms come to you! LHF is proud to offer several outreach programs, which involve a mixture of multimedia presentation, artifacts, and hands-on activities, built around a central theme. These programs are intended for children in grades 2-5. Each session can accommodate 25 students. Reservations must be made at least three weeks in advance, and are subject to availability.
Living History Farms’ Homeschool Days are the perfect opportunity for families to learn together! You and your children will have the opportunity to tour the museum’s many historic areas, participate in hands-on activities, and have fun!
Our Family Camps are perfect for families who would like to be involved in camp together. Come for a day with your family and experience the routines of life on the prairie, the farm, or in a Victorian home, as you help to prepare a meal, do chores, play games, and savor life in the past.
