Run 5 miles through 300 years of history!

REGISTER

$45 early-bird registration (through 9/1)
$50 registration (9/2-10/20)
$60 late registration (10/21-11/8)
No race day registration

Immerse yourself in rural Iowa landscapes for this one-of-a-kind off-road race. You’ll splash through streams, plow through fields, and enjoy post-race treats from the Machine Shed. The course starts and ends in the 1876 town of Walnut Hill and runs through our three historic farm sites. Be sure to wave to the horses, cows, sheep, and pigs!

Awards given for overall winners, age division winners, and best costumes. Must be 14 to register.

All finishers receive a long-sleeve shirt and a cowbell medal.

Please note: Only registered runners and volunteers will be allowed on the race course.

AWARDS

Awards will go to the top two male and top two female runners overall, as well as the top two males and females in the following age divisions:

  • 14–19
  • 20–29
  • 30–39
  • 40–49
  • 50–59
  • 60+

Awards will be presented at 10 a.m. at the Visitor Center.

COSTUME CONTEST

We love costumes at the Living History Farms Race! Awards will go to favorites in the following categories:

  • Best individual costume
  • Best group costume
  • Best Will Ferrell costume

To take part in the costume contest, follow the signs in the Visitor Center to have your photo taken at 8:30 a.m.

KIDS’ RUN

Kids' Run course map

  • Saturday, November 9, 10:30 a.m. (Check in at Gazebo at 10:20 a.m.)

  • Age divisions: 5 and under, 6-9, 10-13
  • Adult family members may run along with children

  • Friday, November 8: 11 a.m.–7 p.m., Living History Farms, 11121 Hickman, Urbandale
