DESCRIPTION:Cooks at four sites compete using surprise ingredients!\nSaturday\, August 8\nCooking over an open fire\, hearth\, or wood stove is a challenge … even more so when you have to improvise with surprise ingredients! Cooks at the 1700 Ioway Farm\, the 1850 Pioneer Farm\, the 1900 Horse-Powered Farm\, and the 1876 Tangen Home will learn their three ingredients in the morning\, then prep a dish or a meal for our team of judges. Surprise ingredients will be delivered to their sites; otherwise they may only use what they already have on hand. \nJudges will visit sites in the afternoon to evaluate taste\, presentation\, and historical value.

You’ll splash through streams\, plow through fields\, and enjoy post-race treats from the Machine Shed. The course starts and ends in the 1876 town of Walnut Hill and runs through our three historic farm sites. Be sure to wave to the horses\, cows\, sheep\, and pigs! \nAwards given for top male and female overall\, top male and female in each age division\, and best individual\, group\, and patriotic/semiquincentennial costumes. Must be 14 to register.
