One-day experiences for campers 5 and older accompanied by an adult family member


HOW TO REGISTER

Step 1: Purchase tickets using the links below

Step 2: Submit a Camper Information Form for each registrant

Please note that you need to purchase tickets AND submit a Camper Information Form to complete your camper’s registration.

Then watch for these three emails:

  • Immediately: Confirmation of payment from ticketing@lhf.org.
  • About a week before camp: Details of drop-off/pickup, schedule, etc. from registration@lhf.org.
  • About 5 days before camp: Introduction from your counselor.

Basic information

  • Fee is per person.
  • 1 registered adult is required for every 3–4 children in attendance.
  • Dress for the weather and for being outside.
  • Wear closed-toed shoes.
  • Bring lunches, snacks, and water bottles.

Wednesday, August 14
9am–4pm

Experience life from a time before European settlement. Bring your family to the 1700 Ioway Farm and play corn darts. Cook stew over a fire, and make fun crafts while it cooks. In the afternoon, set up a tipi and learn to shoot a bow and arrow.

Bring your family out to experience pioneer life for a day. Learn how to cook on a hearth, help with farm chores, and play games. Clean and card sheep wool for yarn, then make your own crafts from hand spun wool.

Friday, August 16
9am–4pm

What was family life like in 1876? Experience 19th-century home life, school, work, and leisure time by participating in many different activities. Start the day with lessons in the schoolhouse, then try printing, broom making, and blacksmithing. In the afternoon, spend time in our Tangen Home cooking over a wood stove and playing parlor games.
