Ioway Indian Program
Ever wonder what Iowa was like before it became a state? Find out about the lives of Native Americans. Discover the food they ate; how their homes, clothes, and tools were made; and the responsibilities each member of the family had. Learn about the influence the French Fur traders had on life in Iowa. Through the help of a slide show, artifacts and hands-on activities, students will discover what life was like for the original farmers of Iowa.

1850 Pioneer Iowa
What is an ox? How do you cook in a fireplace? How do you build a log house? These and many other questions will be answered in this interactive program designed to give your students an introduction to life in Iowa at the time of statehood. Artifacts, a slide show, hands-on activities and games will let your students know what it was like to be a pioneer in Iowa.
